Pay Raises I was the first of the candidates to publicly comment on the pay raise in the Times Picayune on June 18. I believe all pay raises need to be approved by voters in an election. The Economy We need to keep taxes low for our families. We also need to provide incentives for companies to do business in Louisiana. Some politicians think we are doing well in this area but I believe we can do better Flood Protection To work with local and federal engineers to insure that we have the highest level of flood protection possible. We need this now, not five to ten years away. I will take action to prevent future disasters. I will not let history repeat itself. Safety of our citizens: Crime and Healthcare To work with both local and federal law enforcement to help reduce crime. To make sure that our fire department and emergency medical services are well funded and properly staffed. We need to provide affordable healthcare to our Senior Citizens and Children. However improvements in our healthcare system should be handled through private insurance not through a mandated federal healthcare system. Conservative and Family Values I am a staunch believer in the 2nd Amendment and am Strongly Pro Life. We also need representation that we can all be proud of. The way we behave in life is a reflection of not just who we are but our family and the people we serve. Education To work with the School Board on raising the pay and standards of our public schools so that we can compete with other top ranked school systems in the state. Insurance Having previously worked in the insurance industry, and given testimony in Baton Rouge on solutions to resolve our insurance crisis, I will continue to work with the parish and state in solving this important issue. Community I will work with the parish animal shelters to provide funding for adoptions and the prevention of animal cruelty.
